Privacy and terms
Plain words, last updated 13 October 2026.
What we collect
- An anonymous id, random, stored in your browser's local storage. It lets us count visits without knowing who you are.
- Page events tied to that id: that you visited, the link you came from (for example which ad), whether you used the lock designer, which lock price you tapped, and whether you came back from checkout. Also your browser type, and your country from the country code Cloudflare adds to each request. We do not store your IP address.
- Your lock design (names, date, back line) when you tap "Place my lock", so we can match it to your pre-order.
- Your email, only if you type it in. We use it to write once, when the bridge or the lock you chose opens. No newsletter, never sold or shared.
Who else sees it
- Stripe takes payment on a Stripe checkout page. We never see your card. Stripe's privacy policy applies there.
- Cloudflare hosts this site and runs Turnstile, an invisible check that tells people from bots. Turnstile is covered by the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
- Nothing else. No ad pixels or ad trackers, and we count visits ourselves rather than through an analytics company. Turnstile, above, is the only script from another company on this site.
Deleting your data
Write to hello@hangalock.com and we will delete what we hold about you. Clearing your browser's site data removes the anonymous id.
The pre-order
- You are paying in advance for a lock, engraved with your text, hung on a bridge you visit in your browser. Nothing physical is shipped.
- We hang it when the bridge opens and email you a link. If the bridge has not opened by 31 December 2026, you are refunded in full automatically.
- Refunded in full on request, no questions asked.
- Engravings are checked before they are hung. We may ask you to change one that is hateful, targets a person, or breaks the law, or refund it.
- Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
The bridge is inspired by the Pont des Arts. It is not affiliated with the City of Paris or any monument.
